Executive Summary

August was the biggest build month so far. We rolled out 87 new service and location pages covering the full range of legal services across Sandton, Johannesburg and Gauteng, and published 17 new in-depth legal guides. Alongside the content, the whole location-page set was redesigned, schema markup and PAIA compliance were rolled out site-wide, and form spam protection went live. Google responded: clicks from search rose by a third while average position held, and website enquiries grew from 6 to 9. The new pages are young and mostly sit deep in results for now; the next two months are about letting them settle and improving the ones Google starts to favour.

The Numbers, Explained

Website enquiries (the number that pays the bills). Nine people completed the contact or booking forms in August, up from six in July. This is measured directly from the forms themselves, not estimated. Growth in enquiries alongside growing search visibility is the signal the build-out is working.

Clicks. 1,882 visits came from Google search (Aug 1-28), up 33% from 1,420 in July. This is real data from Google Search Console, not an estimate. The growth came mostly from the new pages beginning to appear for searches, while existing pages held their ground.

Times shown in search (impressions). The site appeared 143,995 times, up 5%. New pages add impressions first and clicks later; this number will lead clicks as the 104 new pages get discovered.

Average position. 8.0, essentially unchanged. Steady position with rising clicks means existing strength was not traded away for the expansion.

Work Performed This Month

  • 87 service & location pages published covering the practice areas (family, criminal, commercial, litigation, prison law) for Sandton and surrounding areas, each targeting one specific service and area – beginning with the 38-page Sandton and Johannesburg wave written and scheduled early in the month
  • Every location page completely redesigned – cleaner layout and clearer practice-area navigation across the whole set
  • Site-wide technical upgrades: schema markup added to every post and page, the PAIA compliance manual published, form spam protection (captcha) deployed, blog categories corrected, author accounts set up with posts assigned to named attorneys, and firm awards added to the footer
  • 17 in-depth legal guides published, from bail and assault procedures to RAF claims, CCMA processes and estate matters
  • Full technical site check: all 356 pages crawled, 2 broken internal links found and queued for fixing, page titles and descriptions verified site-wide
  • Visibility groundwork: confirmed the site is fully accessible to AI search tools (ChatGPT and others) and set up ongoing tracking
  • Private reporting hub set up on the site: monthly reports now live here, invisible to search engines

Content Shipped (summary)

104 items in total: 87 service/location pages (for example: Urgent Bail Application Attorneys Sandton, Child Maintenance Attorneys Sandton, Best Family Law Firm Sandton, and city-wide pages for Johannesburg, Pretoria, Randburg, Centurion, Midrand) and 17 guide articles (for example: Theft Charges in South Africa, Culpable Homicide Explained, Schedule 1 Offences Complete List, How to Open a Case at CCMA Online). The full list with links is available on request.

Why this volume: search engines reward sites that cover their subject completely. Each page targets one specific service people search for, so the site now has an answer for far more of the searches potential clients actually type.

Keyword Watch (first snapshot)

This month we set up the priority keyword list, chosen by what brings enquiries rather than raw traffic. First readings taken 30 August: the new service pages are young and mostly sit between positions 17 and 60, which is normal for pages weeks old. From next month this section reports movement, which is the honest measure of the build-out.

Next Month

  • Fix the 2 broken internal links found in the site check
  • First round of title rewrites for pages that appear in search but are not being clicked
  • Build the topical map: a structured plan of every topic the site should cover, so future content targets gaps systematically
  • Deep optimization of the highest-value pages (search-results analysis + conversion focus)
  • Verify the site with Bing (unlocks a second search engine and AI-search visibility)
  • First monthly AI-search visibility test (does ChatGPT recommend the firm)
  • Let the August pages settle; measure which groups move first

What May Change Along the Way

  • Rankings for new pages settle gradually over 1-3 months; early positions are not verdicts
  • Search demand shifts month to month, especially for urgent legal topics
  • We reprioritise based on what the data shows is working, month by month
